PCI designs main stage for CES 2017

2017 marked the 50th anniversary of CES, a global (and enormous) consumer electronics and technology tradeshow that takes place every January at the Las Vegas Convention and World Trade Center (LVCC).

For the CES 50th anniversary, PCI partnered with CTA to create a bold, vibrant stage for their main events space (C Space) located in the Aria casino. This main stage would showcase the event’s “Storytellers”: keynote speakers, panel discussions, and presentations by tech industry leaders. The challenge was to create a clean, crisp, and impactful stage that conveyed the event’s theme — an intersection between media and technology. Led by Scott Babcock, PCI’s event production and design teams took on the challenge by creating a large “C” emerging from the stage (a design by Clark Fairfield), with strategic lighting and a media/technology crossroads projected overhead. Check out scenes from the stage set-up below to see how we took the media/technology intersection from concept to execution.

Organized and run by the Consumer Technology Association (CTA), a trade group based in Arlington, Virginia, CES draws more than 165,000 attendees from all over the world and more than 3,800 exhibiting companies that include manufacturers, developers and suppliers of consumer technology hardware, content, technology delivery systems, and more. The event’s sessions extend beyond the LVCC (one of the largest convention centers in the U.S.) down the Vegas strip and into the Renaissance, Wynn, Aria and The Sands. Check out Gizmodo’s recent tech roundup for examples of the coolest tech featured at this year’s event.
